President’s message

Good day, and welcome to the Cochrane Legion, Men Of Vision, Branch 15. I have the privilege of being the Current President of Branch 15 and look forward to seeing you in our branch.

We have many regular events like Friday night BBQ, Bingo on the first Tuesday of each month, Darts, Crib, Euchre, Pool and Shuffleboard. We are a volunteer-based organization that focuses on providing support for our Veterans, their family members, and our members and giving back to the community. Our biggest event is the Poppy campaign each year, which is closed off by Remembrance Day. Over this period, starting at the end of October, we raise money directly for the Poppy fund, which is used to fund events and pay for items for our Vets, such as handicapped access doors and ramps for the building and a free dinner each year for our vets.

We also host fundraising events throughout the year, like our annual golf tournament and Christmas Market, to raise money to help pay the bills and renovate/upgrade our building. These events are crucial to the survival of the Legion so that we can continue to support our Vets and their families. People may ask why this is so important. Simply because if it weren't for our Veterans, we would not have the freedoms that we do have. Many of our Vets leave the military after their terms of service are broken and warn down and do not get the help they need to reintegrate back into normal civilian life. Believe me, this is a difficult transition, and having a safe location for them to go and be supported is critical for their transition back to a normal life.

If you are interested in becoming a member or just volunteering, please contact any of our executives, members, or staff to find out more. Many hands make light work.
